Route 56 is licensed to service, repair, overhaul, diagnose and inspect motor coaches, heavy trucks and truck-trailers.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, a Safety Standard Certificate is defined as "...a document that certifies a vehicle’s fitness. You can buy and register a vehicle without a safety certificate, but you cannot put your own plates on the vehicle or drive it without one. Any inspection station in Ontario licensed by the Ministry of Transportation can issue a safety standards certificate, provided your vehicle passes an inspection."
As stated on the Ministry of Transportation's website, "trucks, trailers and converter dollies, alone or in combination, with a total gross weight, registered gross weight or manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of more than 4,500 kg require an annual inspection. If a vehicle meets all the requirements of an annual or semi-annual inspection, a sticker is applied to the vehicle and a certificate and report are issued by the inspecting station."
